The Scientist

Christina Washington was interested in math and science from an early age, entering her first science fair as a second grader. “I was always tinkering around the house as a child, trying to figure out how and why things worked the way they did,” she says.

By the time she reached high school, her childhood hobby of tinkering had turned into a full-fledged passion for science. When her high school physics teacher noticed her aptitude and interest, he suggested that Christina pursue engineering. She took his advice and earned a NASA Scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at Clark Atlanta University. While at CAU, Christina worked as a Research Assistant for the Georgia Tech Research Institute and interned for the USDA Forest Services in Madison, WI.  Under the direction of Dr. Khalil Shujaee, she also co-authored 2 electrical engineering lab manuals.

After finishing her undergraduate degree, Christina worked in server development at Dell Computer Corporation in Austin, TX for 3 years. Within this time, Christina assisted with the launch of 10 server products and gained immense experience in program management within a fast paced environment. At this point in her career, Christina wanted to use her science background to make a contribution to the medical field. She decided to pursue graduate school in Medical Physics at Cleveland State University while completing clinical training at the Cleveland Clinic. Christina worked as a Medical Physicist for almost 10 years, mentoring young scientists along the way.
